What is a Tarot blog?

April 26, 2017

I'm starting this blog in the hopes of sharing some ideas, beliefs, inspirations and questions about Tarot; that is to say about life. Because for me, the 78 cards of the Tarot describe life as we experience it and as we imagine it. Some of the delicious pictures on the cards are old, some not so old, but their meanings and representations take us back to the earliest days of being human.

The concepts of Mother, Father, Priest, Magician, Star, and everyone's favorite: Death carry so much collective meaning that our unconscious mind responds instantaneously to these Tarot images. Even before we have a chance to deny what we feel, the feelings appear. By examining the images in a sense of safety, such as a Tarot reading, we can acknowledge and accept our spontaneous reactions. In that way we can take a deeper look at what our beliefs are, and what we create for ourselves in this beautiful, crazy life.

So what I long to do is simply talk to you about what Tarot evokes for you and for me. Not just the mystical and supernatural, but the grounded real life experiences that we all share. If we can learn how to be more ourselves; learn how we react, how we see and interpret the world, then we will have brought ourselves closer to something precious: our own perception of life. I think one way is by examining these astonishing images and listening to our hearts' reaction to them. Because our hearts do not lie. And what we see and hear when our hearts speak is the voice of wisdom.
